W E L C O M E to this site which is dedicated to all the people who contributed towards making the sixties around Warrington something special with their music and other activities.

I

If (like me) you are into 1940s-50s music, (let’s face it, it’s where our kind of music was born), there will be plenty of jiving etc at the Heywood 1940’s Bash this weekend 28th & 29th June and on Sunday 29th Lymm Village is having an Historic Transport Festival. Both events will have the kind of vintage vehicles we used to trundle around in to get to gigs, invariably ending up at the Hoagie Wagon at the end of the night. Plus in September (13th & 14th) Burtonwood Heritage Centre will be holding their annual bash. Hands up all those who have ‘gigged’ at the base during 50’s onwards.

Burtonwood Air Base was the fulcrum that made Warrington one of the richest towns (musically) in the sixties.

I hope you enjoy my little tribute to the largest Air base in Europe in its prime. Please listen.

After you’ve had a browse

Through the pages why not log

in to the forum and relate your

 stories, it’s a doddle once you’ve

 got the hang of it.

And if you have any  relative old

photos of  these days and you

would like them to be added to

Just a little plug for our mate Pete Rigby, still going strong and DJ’ing at Warrington Town F.C.  every Friday night. But still available for any function where ‘proper’ music is required.
