W E L C O M E to this site which is dedicated to all the people who contributed towards making the sixties around Warrington something special with their music and other activities.

I

If you are under the age of sixty and have accidentally logged on to this site you may need to have a chat with your parents/grandparents to make any sense of it all.

All I can say is that you (musically) missed out on the best period of  the last century.

From the mid fifties onwards ‘pop’ music was changed forever, first by the USA then by the UK.

I think it is fair to say that it was mostly influenced by the unfortunate Africans involved in something called the ‘slave trade’ in America, this being the roots of jazz, add on later influences from various states across the USA with their own country styles, inventing new genres, blues, R&B, C/W etc.

All it needed then was for  us in the UK to put in our  own six pennyworth into the mix, and we sure did.

Gordon Struthers & Jimmy Marsh.

I would describe these two along with Johnny Skidmore as ‘gifted’ and have had the biggest influence in my musical life, Jim passed away a few years ago and is sadly missed but always in our thoughts.

Just a little plug for our mate Pete Rigby, still going strong and DJ’ing at Warrington Town F.C.  every Friday night. But still available for any function where ‘proper’ music is required.
